SHARP LC 32D50U _ LCD TV
The adjustment values are set to optimum conditions at the
factory before shipping. If a value should become improper of an
adjustment is required due to parts replacement, make an adjustment
according to the following procedure.
When replacing the following units, make sure to prepare the new units loaded with updated software.
UPGRADING OF EACH MICROPROCESSOR SOFTWARE
Never Power OFF the unit, when software upgrade is ongoing; otherwise the the system may be damaged beyond recocvery.
Software Version Upgrade
The model employs the following software.
- Main software.
- Monitor Microprocessor software.
The main and monitor software can be upgraded by using a general purpose SD memory card.
The followings are the proceedings for upgrading.
MAIN SOFTWARE UPGRADE
You need:
- SD memory card of 32MB or higher capacity.
- PC running on Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP operating system.
- SD memory card reader/writer with USB connectivity.
- SD memory card formatting software.
To upgrade the main software, it is necessary to get ready the SD card for version upgrade.
Follow these steps and create the SD card for version upgrade.
- Insert the SD card in to the SD card reader/writer. Start the SD
card formatting software, and click format. When you have the drive
options, select the drive where the SD card is inserted before you
proceed. - When the formatting is over, click OK at the complete window.
- Click Exit to finish formatting. When you have done, take out the SD card once to make sure it is finished. Insert it again.
- Copy the Binary image file [D50UAxxx.SDC], named temprorarily,
for version upgrade to the root directory/folder of the SD card drive.
[Note that, the SD card drive do not store the other folders or
unrelated files, or more than one Binary Image files for version
upgrade.] Now the SD card version for upgrade is ready.
HOW TO UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE.
- Shut down AC Power.
- Insert the SD card for version upgrade; prepared as above; into
the service socket located lower side from the center at terminals ,
above S-Video terminal in the rear of the unit, in a way that the cut
corner of the SD card comes at the upper side. [If the SD card inserted
in a wrong way, the card will go deep inside the unit beyond retrieval.
Take care to insert SD card correctly. - Turn ON the AC Power.
- After the unit start up, the system upgrade screen will appear withing 25 to 50 seconds.
- Even a single failure in the process will trigger the upgrade
failure screen. The word "NG" changes to Red for the item failed. (In
event of failure, repeat the upgrading process. If the process
repeatedly fails, it is likely that the hardware is troubled. - Up on completion of the whole process, the upgrade success screen
will appear. You can check the new software version on this screen.
The version information only appear after the upgrade is complete. - Shut OFF the AC Power to the unit, and remove the SD card from the slot.
- Now the software upgrade is complete.
When you've done with the software version upgrade, start the
set, go to the top page of the adjustment process and check the main
software version information.
MONITOR MICROPROCESSOR SOFTWARE VERSION UPGRADE
If the Monitor Version in the process menu is "2.00M", the
monitor microprocessor software cannot be written, because, IC2002 has
been replaced with the mask type.
- Get ready the same items as listed in the Mains software version upgrade.
- Create the SD card for monitor microprocessor software version upgrade, in the same manner as explained Main Software Version Upgrade. Copy the Binary image file M150xxx.SDC; named temporarily; for monitor microprocessor software version upgrade to the SD drive card.
- Shut off the AC Power to the unit.
- Insert the SD card for version upgrade into the service socket located into the same socket as mentioned above.
- Turn ON the AC power. (The moment this operation is done, the
upgrading of the monitor microprocessor software starts. While the
upgrading is ongoing, Never Power Off the unit. Otherwise the upgrade
will fail and the system may have a serious damage beyond recovery ) - After unit start up the system upgrade screen will appear within 15 to 40 seconds.
- Upon completion of the whole process the upgrade success screen will appear.
- Shut down the AC power, and remove the SD card.
- Now the software upgrade is complete.

Part-2
The following geometry adjustments can be carried out. The receiver
requires a full geometry setup, ensure that vertical adjustments are
carried out first. It is important that the adjustments are made in the
order shown below.
HORIZONTAL SHIFT - Adjust the Horizontal shift so that the picture is centered.
- When the volume Up button is pressed, the picture moves to right.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, the picture moves to left.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
E-W WIDTH
Adjust the E-W Width, so that 8% over scan is achieved.
- When volume Up button is pressed, horizontal scanning decreases.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, horizontal scanning increases.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
PIN-PHASE
Adjust Pin-Phase so that the picture is symmetrical top and bottom.
- When volume Up button is pressed, side pincushion changes.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, side pin cushion changes
- Press Standby button to store it in memory.
PIN AMP
Adjust Pin-Amplitude so that the picture is centered.
- When the volume up button is pressed side pincushion changes from pincushion to barrel shape.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, side pincushion changes from barrel shape to pincushion.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
UPPER CORNER CORRECTION
Adjust upper corner correction, so that the picture is centered.
- When Volume Up button is pressed, side pincushion changes to barrel shape.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, side pincushion changes from barrel to pincushion.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
LOWER CORNER CORRECTION
Adjust lower corner correction so that the picture is centered.
- When volume Up button is pressed, side pincushion changes from pincushion to barrel shape.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, side pincushion changes from barrel shape to pincuchion.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
VERTICAL LINEARITY
Adjust vertical linearity so that the upper and lower part of the picture are symmetrical.
- When volume Up button is pressed, the upper picture scanning decreases and the lower increases.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, the the upper picture scanning increases, and the lower decreases.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
VERTICAL AMPLITUDE
Adjust vertical amplitude so that the picture is over-scanned.
- When Volume Up button is pressed, the vertical size of picture increases.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, the vertical size of the picture decreases.
- Press Standby button to store the data value to memory.
S-CORRECTION
Adjust S-Correction so that the picture symmetrical between the top, center and the bottom.
- When volume Up button is pressed, the top and bottom scanning increases, and the center scanning decreases.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, the top and bottom scanning decreases, and the center scanning increases.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
VERTICAL SHIFT
Adjust vertical shift so that the picture is vertically centered.
- When volume Up button is pressed, the picture moves up.
- When volume Dn button is pressed, the picture moves down.
- Press Standby button to store the data into memory.
